About YCT solutions
I'm Sarah, I trained to be a counsellor because I've worked in workplace change professionally for over 10 years in an corporate environment and through that work I discovered I love helping people adapt, confront and make peace with the change in their lives.
Once I started helping people I realised I was passionate in helping people in practical terms to live the lives they deserved to live. I had a phobia for nearly all of my life. Until I undertook counselling I didn't realise how much of my life it overtook, I avoided places, people, things that could trigger a fear in me. Because of what I was afraid of, whenever I told people about it, many laughed at me. That was really hurtful, it was a real fear that drove anxiety and panic in me. Due to that reception I stopped telling people, and when i then avoided things it caused hurt for others that couldn't see why I wouldn't go/do something. Also it became exhausting to have to tell someone all about it, to explain myself, I ended up not doing any of it and avoiding things.
I learnt about something called systematic desensitisation, and I decided to use it on myself to help me. This was incredibly successful and it made me realise that that what I want to do for others. So 6 months after I set up this business I decided to pivot to become a phobia specialist and dedicate myself to this type of counselling.

Our Approach
At YCT solutions, I believe in a counselling journey that is unique to you. I use something called systematic desensitisation to help you move past your phobia. This is not a standard approach of 8 sessions and you'll be cured - I'm not here to sell you false promises. I also wouldn't elongate any treatment that's not needed, Its down to you and how fast or slow you want to take things. We spend some time discussing what will work best for you, and sometimes we wont know until we start trying things. With phobias the work can be more unorthodox that traditional counselling, or it can blend into a situation involving both. As a fully qualified and experienced counsellor, I use various therapeutic techniques to create an environment that helps you grow and thrive. In short, my approach is yours - we are a team in this, I have your back to get this phobia out of your life.

I hold my ethics in the highest regard, voluntarily aligning with the society to protecting you and give high quality care. The UK counselling industry is sadly, not legally regulated, this means anyone with any minimal training or experience can call themselves a counsellor and offer you services. At You Change, I have undergone many years training, including over 100 hours of counselling at voluntary organisations to hone my skills and qualify. I treat this a serious health care profession.
